Te Aowera Marae
Te Aowera marae is the principal home of one of our hapū. It is the most spectacular place and many people through the years have fought hard to see it endure as a significant site to connect to.
This is also the final resting place of Erana Kaunga Tuhura Ferris. Recently the hapū have worked through a major redevelopment of its buildings to ensure they are fit for purpose in the generations to come.
The Trust has played an active role in supporting the rebuild by applying to numerous channels to obtain grants to realise this vision (The Ministry of Social Development, Eastern and Central Community Trust and Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou). These grants have contributed to the success of building the wharekai which is due to be complete 2023.
