Te Reo Māori
One of our strategic goals for our mokopuna is to enable flourishing in te reo Māori and English and the future generations see those in our trust as trilingual as language is a gateway to knowing, being, thinking, connecting, learning and doing.
In 2021 it was recognized that our mokopuna attending Te Kohanga reo (māori immersion pathways) did not have a pathway in their local neighbourhood school and as such by default were expected to attend English-Medium Education.
This prompted our trust to work with both the Minister of Education and the Ministry of Education, hapū and schools to explore a creative solution allowing dual enrolment. This included parliamentary advocacy.
